Senior Backend Engineer - Mumbai

Lead backend engineering role focused on building scalable systems, APIs, and workflow automation powering Hudl’s global sports analytics products and operations.

Hudl is a global sports technology company helping teams capture, analyze, and learn from performance data. Its platforms including Hudl Assist, Wyscout, InStat, and Volleymetrics are used by teams worldwide across multiple sports.

Requirements
• Minimum 8 years of experience in backend software development
• Currently working in a product-based organization
• Strong experience with NodeJS and backend architecture
• C# experience preferred
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, APIs, databases, and cloud platforms
• Experience designing and building scalable backend systems and services
• Language agnostic mindset with ability to work across technologies
• Experience leading large product or platform initiatives
• Strong understanding of system design, scalability, and performance optimization
• Ability to mentor engineers and drive technical discussions
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Comfortable working with globally distributed teams
• Experience with AI/ML-driven workflow automation is a plus

Responsibilities
• Build and scale backend systems and services across Hudl’s sports technology platforms
• Design, develop, and maintain scalable APIs and distributed systems
• Collaborate with Engineering, QA, Product, Design, and Scrum teams across regions
• Lead technical discussions, architecture decisions, and implementation planning
• Solve complex and ambiguous technical problems with scalable solutions
• Improve analyst training tools and operational workflows through backend enhancements
• Contribute to automation and AI/ML initiatives for operational efficiency
• Mentor engineers and provide technical guidance across teams
• Drive high-quality engineering practices and rapid iteration cycles
• Ensure performance, reliability, scalability, and security of backend services
