Network Protocols Engineer

Overview:  

We are seeking a Senior Technology Specialist/Network Protocols Engineer to lead the design and development of high-performance communication and data manipulation modules for industrial network protocols such as IEC 61850, DNP3, and Modbus. This role involves driving technical excellence, mentoring a team of developers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver scalable and efficient solutions that integrate seamlessly with hardware platforms and optimize performance.

Requirements:  

•  Experience: 7+ years of hands-on software development experience, with expertise in industrial network protocols (IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus).  
• Programming Skills: Proficiency in Python, C, and C++ for low-level code development.  
• Database and OS: Experience with SQL/Postgres and Linux.  
• Software Development Practices: Knowledge of software architecture principles, design patterns, and DevOps practices including CI/CD pipelines.  
• Version Control: Proficiency with Git.  
• Leadership: Experience mentoring teams, conducting code reviews, and leading projects.  
• Domain Knowledge: Understanding of electricity sector protocols and their applications is a plus.  
  
  

Responsibilities:  

• Lead the design, development, and implementation of communication and data manipulation modules for industrial protocols.  
• Write and optimize low-level, efficient code for data exchange and integration with Intelligent Electronic Devices (IEDs).  
• Address performance bottlenecks, ensure data integrity, and resolve technical challenges.  
• Mentor and guide team members, ensuring high code quality and technical standards.  
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.  
• Participate in agile processes, including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.  
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues to ensure application stability and reliability.
