Requirements

• 3–5 years of backend development experience or strong equivalent track record

• Experience building and shipping consumer-facing products from 0 to 1

• Strong expertise in one backend language (Java, Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, or Go)

• Working knowledge of a second backend language

• Experience designing APIs (REST, gRPC, webhooks, OAuth2, JWT)

• Strong understanding of databases (SQL, NoSQL, Redis, Elasticsearch)

• Knowledge of system design (monolith vs microservices, event-driven architecture)

• Experience with CI/CD, feature flags, and progressive rollouts

• Strong debugging and production issue resolution skills

• Solid testing practices (unit, integration, end-to-end)

• Understanding of system observability and reliability practices

• Knowledge of security best practices

• Experience collaborating with product, design, and cross-functional teams

• Strong communication and documentation skills

• Experience using AI tools for development and code review

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain backend systems and production-grade applications

• Design scalable and reliable system architectures

• Contribute hands-on to coding, architecture, and production systems

• Define technical direction and author RFCs and decision documents

• Break down complex problems into clear technical specifications

• Lead technical discussions with clients and stakeholders

• Drive adoption of AI-assisted development workflows

• Ensure high engineering standards via code reviews and design reviews

• Improve system reliability, observability, and deployment practices

• Mentor engineers through pairing, reviews, and feedback

• Ship iteratively with continuous deployment and fast feedback loops

• Maintain clear async communication and documentation
